Social justice means to know the advantages and disadvantages we have within our society. It means to have respect for others despite their gender, race, sexuality, religion, age, etc. We all share the same humanity and therefore we should all be treated equally, have the same human rights, and have access to the same resources. Social justice means to have the freedom to believe what we want and do what we think it’s best for us without harming others. People live injustices everyday, people get mistreated or they don’t get the same opportunities as others.
We haven’t achieved social justice because some people simply do not know what social justice means or they just don’t care to harm others. People get to a point where they do things and they don’t think about the consequences or if what they are doing is going to affect others. How are these people supposed to know what to fight for if they don’t know if they are being a victim of injustices.
People can learn about social justice by getting informed and practicing what they learn. It is our job to inform others that they have the same rights and opportunities as others. Social justice will advance during my lifetime because there’s going to be a point where citizens will realize that they have potential in the society they live.
Even though there is poor quality education at all levels, it is urgent to improve it at a primary level. My role right now is to let others know about this countries and to let them to know that they need to appreciate the fact that there are schools in our communities and it is a privilege to have an education.
Lack of education in developing countries is a social justice issue because everyone has the right to get an education. We are being selfish by not helping out this countries that we know they need our help. My vision is to let know others the statistics of how many children grow up without an education and they need to learn the what social justice means so they can fight for their own education. There are people in Peru that are willing to pay high fees so they can built new schools in their communities.
